iShares sets final trading dates for its 2026 iBonds term ETFs

iShares has set out the final steps for its 2026-maturity iBonds ETFs. These wind-downs are not new decisions: the supplements say the board approved them when the funds were established, between 2016 and 2020.

Corporate, Treasury and high yield

A supplement dated 15 October covers the iShares iBonds Dec 2026 Term Corporate ETF (IBDR), the iBonds Dec 2026 Term Treasury ETF (IBTG) and the iBonds 2026 Term High Yield and Income ETF (IBHF). They list on NYSE Arca, Nasdaq and Cboe BZX respectively.

The last day of trading is 15 December 2026. The exchanges suspend trading before the open on 16 December, and liquidation proceeds are scheduled to be sent to shareholders on 18 December. Each fund’s final net asset value, calculated on 15 December, will include liquidation costs.

Municipal

An earlier supplement, dated 1 October, covers the iShares iBonds Dec 2026 Term Muni Bond ETF (IBMO). Its last day of trading on Cboe BZX is 1 December 2026, with proceeds scheduled for 4 December. Trading is suspended before the open on 2 December.

How the final days work

iShares notes that while shares are not trading between suspension and payment, the funds will be closing down and may not track their underlying indices. By 16 December, the index values for the corporate, Treasury and high-yield funds will be represented almost entirely by cash.

Why it matters

For defined-maturity funds, closure is part of the design rather than a response to demand. Here the final dates were published about two months ahead.
